2018-19 Residency Program – call for proposals

Deadline April 30, 2018, 11:59pm

Show Box L.A. is pleased to announce our 2018-19 residency program for dance-based artists living in the greater Los Angeles area.

Between July 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019, Show Box L.A. will provide artists with up to 50 hours of free studio space (maximum 20 hours per week), and a $250 stipend to enhance the artist’s creative process. Residencies will take place at we live in space, a rehearsal studio in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South LA.

Residencies are scheduled in advance, by mutual agreement between the residency artist and we live in space. Residencies can be scheduled in various ways (for example, week-long intensives, or 2-hour weekly rehearsals spread out over the year).

As part of the residency, participating artists are asked to hold at least one public event. This could take the form of an open rehearsal, workshop, informal showing, artist talk, or other community event that might be particularly suited to this storefront studio space, or another location within City Council District 10.

Students are not eligible, and residencies are non-transferable.

Please send the following information in an email to:  info@showboxla.org

  • If you already have specific dates (between July 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019) that you are interested in, please let us know.
