Show Box L.A. fosters an environment of connection, through artist-led projects and partnerships that respond to a need for ways to share work, ideas and resources among the dance community. We contribute to critical dialogue in Los Angeles about the art and legacy of dance – locally, and with artists around the country.
In Show Box L.A.’s ongoing efforts to support local choreographers, from 2016-2020 we focused on a project called we live in space, a rehearsal studio specifically for dance-based artists to deepen their creative practice. Through offering suitable space for residencies to choreographers, this studio project encouraged a substantial output of innovative new works.
2020 marks an important moment of organizational shift, as founding director Meg Wolfe passes the leadership of Show Box L.A. into the hands of Alfonso Cervera, Irvin Manuel Gonzalez , Patricia “Patty” Huerta, and Rosa Rodriguez-Frazier.
